2021.11.27 17:13 lukewarm_tea0909 scaled and icy retrospective
so today i listened to SAI for the first time since the week it dropped. upon release, i saw the album as a huge step down from every other release in their discography, particularly its immediate senior trench (imo the best album from the boys). my main issues with it were a perceived lack of fleshed-out musical ideas and uninspired lyricism. upon revisiting the album, i think i treated it a tad too harshly. it definitely has a few bops, particularly the lead single shy away (pretty quintessential tøp track if you ask me). im still just not a fan of the sound here; i LOVE sound switch-ups (after laughter is my favorite paramore album), but i just dont think any of the musical ideas on SAI are given enough room to breathe or develop.
tl;dr i like it a bit more now, but still my least favorite tøp album. what are other people’s thoughts after 6 months?

2021.11.27 17:13 OkBarber6 A Trade to Make the Hawks and Elite Defensive Team while also staying young
I went and made adjustments to a previous trade I posted on here. This is the trade.
Hawks New Lineup
Trae Dejounte Reddish (or Huerter depending on the matchup) Collins Turner
Bench Delon Lamb Huerter Gallo Okongwu
Why the hawks do this:
The hawks are currently 23rd in defensive rating. And while the hawks have one of the best offenses in the league, the defensive ceiling prevents them currently from being elite championship status. JJ and Shareef have a ton of potential, but are currently not in the rotation. The only rotational players traded in this scenario for the Hawks are Hunter, Bogdonavic, and Capella. These three are great players, but none are elite in any defensive metrics. Trae now has elite defenders at positions 2-5, putting one of the best defenses in the league Dejounte Murray is averaging 18/8/8 and is an elite rebounder and defender, not only does he cover Trae’s weaknesses on that end, but he is an elite enough playmaker to unlock Young’s full potential offensively as both an on ball and off ball threat. The spacing that Turner provides (shooting 40% from 3 on 5 attempts per game) give Trae TWO pick and pop/pick and roll threats with Collins and Turner. Plus, you still get to keep Reddish who is only 22 and has a ton of potential on both ends, with this spacing Dejounte and Cam would flourish. Jeremy Lamb has been an elite shooter the past two years as well as a great defender, instantly becomes a fantastic 6 man. The best part about it? Turner and Dejounte are both only 25 and are on fantastic contracts for the next few years. You also still have Huerter who would be a great 6 man or starter depending on the match up, Okungwu as a young versatile backup, Delon, gallo, lou, and ALL your draft picks for the foreseeable future.
In conclusion, the hawks would be an elite offense, elite defense, and have an amazing bench.

2021.11.27 17:13 H25azbxwyz Australia: LGBTQ advocates blast religious discrimination bill

Australia has introduced a new controversial bill aimed at protecting religious people from "cancel culture".
Among other things, it would allow Catholic schools the right to fire teachers or expel gay students in the name of "religious ethos".
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the Religious Discrimination Bill, if passed, would ensure protection for religious people and organisations, like churches, to express beliefs.
Critics say it is "deeply unbalanced".
Introducing the bill on Thursday, Mr Morrison said it aimed to protect people's "statements of belief" as long as it was not "harassment, vilification or intimation of anyone."
But Australia's Human Rights Law Centre said the bill fails to "fairly balance the right to equality with the freedom of religion".
Human rights and LGBT groups have also warned the law would instead grant licence for people to express bigoted views.
The law also authorises people to express derogatory or harmful comments in a workplace, school and health setting, the human rights group said.
Equality Australia, a gay rights advocacy group told the ABC earlier this week: "When… a nurse says to a patient with HIV that their HIV is a punishment by God, for example… could constitute a statement of belief, would be protected under the law under this bill."
Such incidents have already occurred in Australia, but victims can sue for discrimination. The new law if passed, would override these rights.
The topic of religious discrimination has been at the centre of several public debates in recent years, particularly in the wake of Australia passing same-sex marriage legislation in 2017.
That triggered a government inquiry - led by conservatives - into whether religious groups felt their right to expression was being curtailed.
Cases like rugby player Israel Folau being sacked from the national Wallabies side for saying on his Instagram that "hell a(...)

2021.11.27 17:13 PorkNdoughnuts Should I wait for the promotion or just leave now?
My current job position sucks due to how the place is run. Management makes everything harder for us and pretty much want us to fail. People at the top of the food chain don't know about this or care. They haven't listened when people attempted to voice their concerns before quitting, and it's a big factor in why there is such a high turnover rate.
In the near future, I might be able to be promoted. If I were, I'd be in a much more secure place at the job. The position pays more, and there is more stability. People in the job get away with everything and don't have to deal with nearly as much. There is clear favoritism going on. I would NOT take any liberties and still would do my job with the same effort I put in now, I only bring the point up because from everything I have seen, the job would be 10X easier and far more secure.
Turnover isn't as high for people in this other position either, but there are still people who leave. I don't see myself staying at this place forever. I don't see them even being in business for more than a couple more years. This other position is what I would like to do, just without the strings that this place attaches to everyone. I feel like it might be a good stepping stone before I ultimately find better work, but I don't even know if it's worth the effort at this point.
Currently, I am finding myself getting increasingly stressed about my current job position. It seems like everyone else is on the verge of quitting too, and we're all too afraid to say anything. I have half a mind just to leave now and worry about finding this position at a place that doesn't run this way.

2021.11.27 17:13 smatts07 (Chef) Do what you love and then you'll wind up hating it
So I've began working as a chef, thinking it was my dream job. I've begun hating it. I'm always on my feet for at least 7 hours before I get a chance to sit down, I don't even take much of a break, just enough time to finish my lunch and go back to my jobs I have to do before I leave. As I'm the only one in the kitchen, it's down to me to complete everything. I work every weekend (and I'm really missing time with my school aged kid). I don't even have an energy for my family when I get home. I eat my lunch so late that I don't want or have energy to make something fun for dinner. My boss will literally work 60-80 hours a week sometimes. I know I shouldn't, but I feel guilty not staying past my 40 hours a week to help lighten the load. And I'm pretty sure I'm underpaid for what chefs make in my area. I'm exhausted. I no longer have a dream job, I don't dream of labour.
